I’ve received a lot of questions about weather Google uses Twitter and Facebook as a ranking signal, below is a great video from Google where Matt Cutts explains.
This is a great video created by Common Craft and Search Engine Land, I love the analogy of search engines as librarians. SEO or search engine optimisation is the process of improving and increasing the volume of exposure and visitor traffic to a website for relevant and targeted keyword searches through natural search engine results (In Search Engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing). The Ranking of a Keyword or listing position changes based on a algorithm which determines the ranking, quality and relevance of the website and landing page based on over hundreds of ranking factors. The higher a site ranks for a keyword search, the larger the volume of exposure and visitor traffic a site will receive.
So here is the video, hope you enjoy as much as I did!

It’s something we have all known for a long time in the SEO community, Google do not use the Meta Keyword Tag to determine listing relevance or the ranking position of a web page within a Google search results page. Matt Cutts, head of web spam at Google, finally acknowledges this in the following video where he discusses Google’s use of the tag and its importance. The keyword tag is still used by other search engines and does still have an important use in SEO, all be it a lot less than in the past. It’s still worth using and including but not essential.
