Scour.com adds Real-Time search results from Twitter
The Real-Time Search is the Holy Grail of the search industry, the battle to be the first search engine to successfully integrate Real-Time results, in a usable format, into a search engine continues. Scour are the latest company to launch their version of integration but is it a success?

Scour have taken a very nice and simple approach to adding Real Time search. Instead of building a new interface or allowing users to search specifically for Twitter users, Scour have directly integrated results into their existing listings. Whenever a Real-Time result is displayed, Scour place an orange rosette logo next to the listing to identify its source. This simple approach does help to quickly find a Twitter post by a keyword search. One thing we have noticed is that the data does seem to be a little out of date and it would be interesting to know how frequently the data is being refreshed.
On the whole it’s a great first attempt and one of the simplest methods of integration we have seen so far. We really like it, it would be great to hear your opinion.

Is Google Developing a Micro Blog Search to challenge Twitter?
It’s no secret that Google have openly expressed their interest in Twitter and its immense success. So are rumours correct, is Google building a Micro Blog search?
Google have openly discussed their admiration of Twitter and the sites remarkable growth and success. Due to Twitters amazing popularity it was only a matter of time before Google needed to evolve to include Micro Blogging search into the Google’s search results pages.
The Google Operating System Blog has reported that Google will be launching a search service which will index and list Micro Blogging content from sites like Twitter. The Blog does not currently quote a source for this story. It is expected that the service will be similar in functionality to Google Blog search. It is also expected that results will eventually be incorporated into the main Google Search Results pages but it is unclear if this will happen immediately.
Google and Twitter have been rumoured to be in talks about a potential search partnership and Google CEO Eric Schmidt has talked about how advertisements could be attached to Micro Blogging services. In fact Eric Schmidt has been reported as saying a potential partnership would be something that he would be “very happy to pursue with them.”
If Google were to launch a Micro Blog search facility, would potential Twitter Search Users opt to search multiple Micro Blog sites using the Google interface rather than just Twitter? Google’s brand is strong and there is a distinct familiarity to the simplicity of all Google services. The fact that Google would potentially offer a service which would show search results from multiple Micro Blogs does suggest that it would become the first port of call for any Micro Blog Search.
The key here is the immense value data that Twitter provides. Twitter includes real time demographic information about consumer habits, political opinions, news, views and so much more. The potential Marketing opportunities are huge and as such Google cannot ignore Twitter. The search engine industry is very competitive and Micro Blog search does seem to be the next frontier and we can surmise that Google will be at the forefront of any new development.
On Sunday a Google Representative said “While we don’t have anything to announce today, real-time information is important, and we’re looking at different ways to use this information to make Google more useful to our users.”
